Amorotti
Gaetano Carboni, is the man behind an incredible estate in Abruzzo which spans all the way back to 1521. The cellar is literally across the road from cult famous Valentini estate, where Gaetano actually trained under the late Edoardo Valentini.
The vineyards on the estate have belonged to the Amorotti/Carboni family for more than a 100 years and wine was always produced for family consumption in the same cavernous cellar that is used today.
Certified organic since 2009 the family have implemented various types of training systems and vine ages make up Amorotti's 14 hectares of vineyard that grow at 400mt of altitude on rolling hills formed by a clay and partly limestone based soil.
Gaetano is all about manual harvests and grapes are moved to the cellar by way of small crate. The winemaking is all done with spontaneous fermentation and only light filtering is applied. The hands-off approach, respect for showcasing the incredible terroir of this Abruzzo paradise is highlighted through the purity and balance that can also be seen in Gaetano's iconic mentor.
