Carlos Alonso's story of Els Vilars in Catalunya is quite different to your regular. Having left the city and job in finance in the 70s, now he farms 2.5 hectares of vines that he planted himself. The production is tiny and largely is composed of sparkling, with one cuvee of red wine each year. The wines are complex, fruit forward and easygoing. Always possessing great length and precision. Carlos in the cellar is the epitome of natural winemaking and really one of the first to do so in the area looking back at when he begun.
