Champalou

Catherine and Didier Champalou both stem from esteemed vigneron families and after graduating from viticulture school in 1983 decided to go out on their own and start their own domaine. Today it is one of the most highly-acclaimed in the appellation. 

The Champalou family farms 21 hectares of vineyards planted to clay, limestone, and siliceous soils. They whole-fully embrace sustainable farming while also integrating the lunar calendar with  organic viticulture. The soils in their vineyards are rich, deep, and aerated though regular plowing. Cover crops are planted in between vineyard rows to help with excess water absorption and to encourage microbiotic activity in the soil. Catherine and Didier produce wines of elegance, with finesse and impeccable balance. Un-inimitable.
