Clos Cibonne
The Clos Cibonne property is a rare piece of history. The Roux family purchased the estate in 1793 from Jean-Baptiste de Cibon, a marine captain for Louis XVI. At the outset of the French Revolution, Cibon sold or transferred the ownership of the property to farmers who had traditionally farmed the land, which is how the Roux family came to own a piece of this historical land. In 1930 Andre Roux designed the modern winery in the pursuit of creating top quality wine at the estate. Today fifth generation wine maker Oliver Deforges (the great grandson of Andre) runs the estate as both vineyard manager and winemaker. For the last decade he has focused his energy on organic viticulture and is certified organic. The 15 hectares of vineyards sit only 800metres from the coast and receive fantastic air circulation which allows for an extended growing season whilst cooling the vines. Grapes are harvested by hand and by result you have some of the clearest and cleanest wines in the south of France.
