The Mattioli family have lived in the tiny village of Terzo la Piece in Umbria since the Medieval era (seriously, they have been there since 1100). The families patriarch Vittorio Mattioli and his wife Anna live there together with their daughter, 3 generations all in the tiny town. They age their wine in sync with the lunar cycle and produce a humble amount of bottles each year. All the farming is completely natural with even the compost coming from their own animals. Most of their wines are made in the same way; natural fermentation in open top cement containers without any additions or controls, aged in either glass lined cement vats or fibreglass takes. The wines are pure expressions of the grapes and vineyards at their very best.
