Matthias Warnung
Introducing a new name from Austria's flourishing natural wine scene: Matthias Warnung. In the divine words of Australian importer, Dan Simmons, Matthias is a "considered vigneron shaping soulful wines within Austria's Kamptal region. In the pulsating heart of this winemaking haven, Warnung's wines emerge like a harmonious jazz riff; an improvisation of terroir, innovation and tradition that captivate the senses of the beholder."
Matthias honed his craft around the world, most notably with famed natural winemakers Craig Hawkins of Testalonga in South Africa and Tom Lubbe of Matassa in France’s Roussillon region. He learnt that great wines start in the vineyard, offering real reflections of their terroir, the personality of place, and the nuances of the grapes. Matthias farms his fruit organically and employs natural ferments with as little intervention as possible. The resulting wines are pure and powerful, expressive and energetic. Modern classics for the contemporary drinker. Get excited!
