For centuries the manor has towered above the “Pianogrillo” hill. It is a true manor house amid cypresses and olive groves, overlooking a green plain known as “Piana dell’Acate”, within the ancient county of Modica and Chiaramonte (nowadays Province of Ragusa).
Pianogrillo is an ancient Sicilian estate in the Iblei mountains of Sicily, traditionally belonging to the barons Piccione di Pianogrillo for centuries. A certified organic farm they mainly produce high quality extra virgin olive oil that is well known from the region. Sitting about 480m above sea level with calcareous clay soils, cool and ventilated nights even in summer. Everything is oriented to the preservation of nature and respect for the environment.
There is also a breeding of the rare Sicilian black pig in the wild, an extinct and protected breed. The heads graze freely in the farmlands and in the company woods, as well as the horses that are used for the processing of the vines. Te grapes grown cover Frappato, Nero d’Avola and Grillo.
