A new cuvée in the lineup this lively light red is a young vine field blend of Trousseau (60), Ploussard (20), Petit Béclan and Enfariné. The last two are ancient Jura cepages. All grown on Kimmeridgian limestone. Co-fermented with 50% whole bunches. Julien bought this plot of land from his paragliding instructor. That’s how steep some of the slopes are here!
Very pale soft cherry red it fades to clear at the rim like a sunset. Fragrant nose of delicate wild red fruits and spice, dried flowers, fresh Jura meadow and chalky minerality. Very enticing! There is always some trepidation tasting such lightly coloured reds but no concern necessary here. Despite its low 11% ABV there is nothing lacking here with so much concentration and complexity. Layer after layer of delicate flavours wash gently across the palate dialed up by the high toned mineral edged acidity. Tannins are non-existent. Its starts out with wild red berries then heads to tangy redskin raspberry and finishes with watered back blackcurrant. All tapering to a super dry mouth-tingling finish. Ethereal magic.
