Being a Western Victorian through & through with strong historical ties to the Grampians, I’ve grown up with the Seppelt show sparkling Shiraz & always had an interest in purposely produced sparkling red wine.

This is Lagrein Grown by Greg & Marg May at Blampied (Blampbrusco seemed so fitting) just outside of Daylesford, it's an incredible property, 4th generation family farmers moving over to certified organics in 1989 (some of the 1st to do so in the region & Australia). A one hectare vineyard was established in 2005 at 535m ASL.

It's a small vineyard that always crops very well due to the fertility of the volcanic soils, ultra cool climate & the natural surrounding shelter of the vineyard.,

All de stemmed, no whole bunches, basket pressed,12 months élevage.

The wine always looked amazing in barrel when it was time to prepare for bottling I discovered it hadn’t been through Malo!

Not wanting to filter or use extreme high sulphur levels I decided that it should become a serious sparkling red wine.

18 months on lees & here it is! - Owen Latta, Winemaker.
