Stephane Aviron and Nicolas Potel are classmates from the viniculture college in Beaune. Stéphane comes from a family of wine growers from Beaujolais and has been working in vineyards since he was 14. The first Potel - Aviron wines were made in 2000 and they are vinified using traditional Burgundian techniques and raised in older barrels - no carbonic maceration here. The crops yielded from old vineyards are naturally low, approximately 25hl/ha instead of the usual 50hl/ha typical in Beaujolais. Delicious now this should also age well too.
