Blauburgunder is the Austrian synonym for Pinot Noir. This is a small batch Pinot Noir we’ve been making for a few years, specifically engineered to be a ‘white-drinking red’: a lighter-framed Pinot Noir, suited to taking a light chill.
Cheerful light cherry colour, not especially dark and a bit cloudy. The aromatics are just so much macerated strawberry, like a home jam making session, frankly, maybe with a little red apple skin and lilac florals thrown in. The palate is surprisingly fruitful and rounded but with a pleasing red plum tartness about it. Clean and eminently quaffable with a nice bit of almost chalky crunch at the end - Vignerons Schmolzer & Brown, Winery.
